The Miami Univision Debate

So...last night's debate in Miami.

And this was as chummy as you were going to see these two all night...okay?

Frankly I was surprised. It was one of their better debates. Much more substance. Compared to some of the GOP debates I have endured this  election cycle (...think Lord of the Flies re-enacted by kindergärtners...) this was Mensa League Stuff.

They both got a lot of tough questions thrown at them. Sometimes they even answered them.

There wasn't a lot of talking over each other...although there was some on both sides...and Hillary did have the opportunity to throw his "Excuse me..." back at him.

And she even threw out a little Spanish  "Basta"  (enough) when talking about her visit with Wall Street as the economy was crashing down.  Unfortunately apparently they did not speak Spanish at her visit and kept what they were doing anyway and tanked the economy.

(... using Basta here was playing to the audience, of course. As she told us in the first debate was she told them to "Knock it off"...but they didn't do that either...)

There were some uncomfortable moments for both of them. Her...when they were discussing climate change and the conversation turned to fracking.

And Bernie's when she brought a video clip of a much younger Bernie discussing Castro's Cuba...

And don't we all wish we had video sound clips of some of the absolute crap/ the bullshit pearls-of-wisdom that came out of our mouths when we were younger and stupider.

Actually, I may have- somewhere.

The Horror.

Anyway...they both scored a few points last night...but  overall Sanders dominated and resounded with the mostly Latino audience. Well, except for that whole Castro thing, obviously.  Is is Miami, after all.

But he did end the evening with a Standing Ovation...so I am feeling very very positive about Florida. And I have to imagine that Hillary felt much the opposite from her expression at that moment.

Also promised myself I was going to take a breather from politics until at least the 15th (which is going to be YUGE) ...eat something...bathe...change clothes...talk to friends...read a book...work on my manuscript...plant a flower...paint...continue with Virtual Portugal...yeah yeah...political junkie...I can quit any time I want to...

"Holy Fuck...WHAT did that Crawler just say??? "

Yeah...it is a sickness.

So back to my regularly scheduled LIFE tomorrow...more anon...
