Yeah...the GOVERNMENT it STILL shutdown. To be honest, most of us don't miss it much.
But we will get to all that later!
The halls are undecked. The tree and tinsel stowed until December...and the place looks bare...I mean absolutely naked. Melania Trump on a photo-shoot bare.
Changing up for winter decorations. Moved the hanging lantern off the patio and on to the coffee table...and put a bright red jarred candle inside. So cozy at night I might buy a second for the bath or my room.
Working on a winter landscape...with snow...since we haven't really had any to speak of yet this winter. More of a rainy season, actually. And it is suppose to reach 60 today. What the hell???
Saw a decorating idea in my neighbor, Sue's, apartment that I am going to steal.
And got her blessings...because imitation really isn't the sincerest form of flattery...most of the time it is just downright creepy.
Anyway...she transformed the standing wall (identical in our kitchens) into a cafe-type window affair using a decorator color balloon valance across the very top.
She added decorative lighting.
I'm thinking a jarred candle and plant, maybe, but I LOVE the look.
Very homey.
Nice start to the New Year. I'm back on the AFD (5:2 which is actually 4:3 when you alternate) and after a couple months of eating pretty much everything...and a LOT of it...I have 12 pounds to adjust...IKR????
And after a couple of free-months...600 calories feels like this...okay?
But it will get better...in a week or two your stomach adjusts to the 600 every other day and it actually gets to the point that even on the non-fast days you eat much less and feel fuller (satisfied) faster.
But not yet.
Plans for a day out with my Honorary Great-Grand, Amelia Rose, and Nicole
(her Grandma) next week...seeing my eldest (James) on his 32nd birthday as well...John and I plotting and planning our January Adventure soon...Emma's Award Recital...Don and Chris having our Winter Brunch this month...Diane and Judy and our Monthly Shop and Brunch...and, of course, Tina and Lisa and I- and our Sister's Day Out by months end.
Busy times!
Sofi missing the Christmas Tree already...and Shelby in absolute mourning for her seasonal love...The Elf.
They have really buddied up now (Sofi and Shelby) and tag team me at times...lol!
Brought a rather large slice of New York Cheesecake in the other day to enjoy...ate about half of it....turned my back and just like THAT they were both on it and whisker deep in velvety goodness.
"Well...it's ours NOW!"
-Sofi and Shelby
sigh...
(get cats...they said...it will be fun...they said)
This Week's Book
A long in queue wait...and it was worth it! Finished it last night. Quick engaging novella. Weight loss...Social Issues...Small town attitudes...all wrapped in a nice neat paranormal package.
If you like Stephen King's "just telling you a good tale"...you will LOVE this.
*note this is a small novella....not one of his 1000+ page tomes.
This Week's Movie
A seriously great film to begin the year!
Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson play middle age parents to a child with severe facial deformities. They are amazing. Love Roberts who has flawlessly made the transition from dewy faced female sexy lead...to down to earth mom who is worried about her child dealing with bullying at school. Wilson does an incredible and sometimes humorous job as Dad
(scene after Augie gets in his first fight)
Dad: Did you win?????? Er...I mean...like Mom said...fighting is bad.
Augie: I won.
Dad: (quietly- with Mom out of the room) all right!!!
Definitely a film to see!
And today we are CRAZY-EXCITED as The Colts have made the PLAYOFFS!!!
Dearest mother — Our celebration festivities were mighty, but brief. We begin our march to Houston to thrice battle the Texans. Each unit has a victory over the other. We shall drill among bulls to better understand their tactics. I am equal parts confident and anxious. — Andrew
Dearest mother — I have received your care package of cured raccoon knuckles and the fresh bottle of Squirrel Oil. It has been decided the unit shall battle on Saturday, perhaps giving us the element of surprise. We have enlisted an ox to help strategize. Determined. — Andrew
Dearest mother — I look to the starry sky and wonder about the outcome of tomorrow’s battle. No matter the result, I count myself among the most fortunate to be a part of such a magnificent unit. And I’d be remiss to not sincerely thank you for the unwavering support. — Andrew
Today at 4:30...
(UPDATE) WE WON...WE WON...We WON!!!!
NEXT UP Kansas City Chiefs!
Only 2 games away from the
Superbowl!!!!
Laughing with "Idgy" yesterday as one of her vendors has redecorated
with these
"I'm surrounded by Cocks!"
"Ah...you'll be changing the name to Ye Auld Cock Shoppe, then?"
Okay....maybe not.
And one of the most positive changes of the year...the Seating of the 116th Congress...
How WONDERFUL that our Congress is beginning to diversify and actually resemble the people it serves!
The ousting of PAUL RYAN. (...good riddance to bad rubbish...)
The passing of the gavel to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
This Congress hit the ground running...immediately House Members drafted 3 bills intended to reopen the Government, filed Articles of Impeachment, filed a bill to legalize marijuana at the Federal level, filed and passed a bipartisan bill on Judiciary Oversight...
oh...and had a pissing match with Trump who now proclaims he will (QUOTE)
"Keep the government shut down for months...or maybe even years..."
unless he gets his wall on the border.
800,000 Federal Employees who are not getting paid beg to differ with you.
Besides...you'll be lucky if you have months left in office...let alone years.
The Democrats and The Republicans both want the SHUTDOWN over.
They are both willing to pass a clean budget bill without the Wall included.
They can overturn a Presidential Veto with a vote of 2/3rds...
So we will see how it goes.
More anon!
I think I've found Shelby and Sofi's cat tree!
At Chewy.com
The cocoa and petit fours are gone...so Christmas is officially over...
