"Beans, here...in Virtual Vermont"
The Trail runs 150 miles in Vermont. 100 miles of it runs with The Long Trail (300 miles). The Long Trail was the first long thru-hike trail.
(...in realtime crossing this part of the AT can take over 8-10 days...but this is virtual so we are going for three days at 50 impossible miles per day...)
According to the White Blaze Weather App this mornings temperature is about 62 degrees and coincidentally that is also as high as it is suppose to be today.
Hoping the sun peers through to make it at least seem less chilly.
No luck yet.
Some stick to your ribs oatmeal with granulated maple sugar
(...because we're in Vermont, of course...)
and we are back to the trail...
Past the Seth Warner Shelter
And a brief dappling of sunlight..promises of things to come after the damp overcast morning.
By Ed's Spring and Roaring Branch
To Congdon Shelter
A nice tight cabin type shelter instead of the lean-to that we have been staying in.
Yay...Vermont!!!
Up Harmon Hill
and across VT 9 to
The Melville Nauheim Shelter
and Hell Hollow Brook
Hell Brook Trail

Past Little Pond Lookout
and up Glastenbury Mountain to Glastenbury Lookout
and Goddard Shelter
So far I am really impressed by Vermont's numerous, spacious, well built shelters!
Past the Kid Gore Shelter
And Story Spring Shelter
Down the Kelly Strand Road and back up Stratton Mountain to the Stratton Pond Shelter
and Stratton Pond
Across Lye Brook
and the Winhall River
to this evening's destination
William B Douglas Shelter
Smiling, as its construction reminds me of the Lincoln Logs we used to play with as kids. You half expect to see the green planks on top and a bright yellow plastic chimney with cotton-puff smoke billowing out.
As chilly as tonight is suppose to be...we are going to wish we HAD that fireplace.
Going to get things situated and start a campfire.
See you up the trail!
Resupplying tomorrow, so I'll continue our hike on Wednesday!
Love,
"Beans"
