Lachlan is a MONTH Old...Our June Adventure...Sisters Day...Food...and The Bears

My youngest grand-baby...one month old, today!

Hard to believe it has already been a month.

And hibernation is slowly over...and the bears are back!!!

747 was the first spotted.

Hibernated all winter, and STILL huge.

Now about 11 are out and about, including 856 and Chunk.

Surprisingly, there are a few salmon already "popcorn-ing" up the falls.

Alices wait expectantly on the rocks for early scraps.

(...remember...all of the gulls are called Alice...)

The live cams are up and the bear people are back...chatting over morning coffee for another season.

(...and no...no one has seen Otis, yet...)

John and I ran away late in the month for a well-deserved retreat. Check out the new-to-us sports shop...relaxed a lot...and had some amazing food.

He came home to spend Saturday with Robert and Jonathan.

I came home to host Sisters Day with Tina and Lisa.

Today we both just napped the day away and recuperated.

About THE FOOD...

Some old favorites...some new stuff...and the BEST prime rib I've had in years.

Rolls with honey-cinnamon butter...huge salad...12 ounce prime rib steak...loaded baked potato and a slice of strawberry cheesecake.

(...I told you this week was all about The Food...)

Cracker Barrel breakfast...an old favorite...with a side of hot peach cobbler!

Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, biscuits, more peach cobbler with whipped cream and sweet tea for Sisters Day!

Tried our new Smokehouse restaurant nearby...they have smoked pork or chicken nestled in baked macaroni and cheese to die for...

And tonight tried Pizza Hut's new Hut Box...with boneless BBQ wings and a personal pan pizza of your choice!

It was excellent.

(...and next week, after the holiday, I must atone for the excesses of the week...)

Face it, like everything in life, it is usually feast or famine!

Love,

Carla

Summer

Summertime!

Our heat-spell is over, and Tux is sprawled on the patio...waiting for me to join him.

Today, we weed, and get the pots ready for bedding plants and flowers for Summer!

Midweek we will peruse garden shops and such, and then the planting.

Looking forward to a sunny flower-filled patio to enjoy a good novel...cold sweet tea...and the cat!

Love,

Carla

Politics & Stuff

And there is a lot to unpack politically, too...

Kristi "Pick Me" Noem, who vied for a VP position with TFG added one small detail in her recently published book that alienated both R & D and virtually eliminated her chances...

When she included a passage about taking her 14 month old puppy to a gravel pit and then shooting it in the face.

No...it doesn't make you look strong, Kristi...it makes you look psychotic.

And TFG slept through a lot of his hush money trial...

but at the end of the jury trial was convicted of thirty-four (count'em 34) felonies.

Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...

Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...

Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty...

Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty.

A 34x felon.

Wouldn't be able to even get a job at McDonalds.

But, apparently, not a problem for MAGAs or the GOP...as he is up for their nomination for President.

You've got to be shitting me!!!!

And in that same line of thinking...some of his rabid supporters are now wearing diapers in solidarity with Sir Shitzenpants.

Yeah...I only WISH I was making this up.

And then there was a worm found in RFK Jr's brain...that had eaten a bit and then died!

Just shaking my head at this point...

But wait, there's more...

Mayhem ensued on the House floor as MTG snapped at Jasmine Crockett and claimed that she couldn't see legislation before her because of her false eyelashes...and Jasmine immediately called her

A Bleach Blond, Bad Built, Butch Body

(...Bitch, was implied)

The BEST part of this exchange was Jamie Raskin who absolutely lost it.

And yes, this IS our Congress, folks.

The wars rage on....the Russian Rouble is crashing and burning...a major bank in Moscow has collapsed.

And I will be voting for the guy with zero felonies.

A Long Month...Father's Day...The Middle of The Year...and More

...yeah...how the hell is it JUNE, already???

Probably because the end of May was plagued with disasters for both John and myself...looking a lot like this:

Storms and tree limbs falling...getting trees trimmed and removed...falls and fractures...but I have to use that arm to transfer myself...so many pain pills...pipes failing that will need replaced...and why doesn't the water heater work??? and what is that puddle in hallway all about...what do you mean his blood sugar is almost 600...how long are they keeping him...he has to have his water pills...because he has CHF...that's why...sciatica...possible cellulitis...we found #88...waited like everyone else for the calves...and then lost her.

And both of us....so tired.

But it hasn't all been a disaster.

Robert is now out of the hospital...diabetes and edema under control...the tree service came and cleaned up from the storm and took down 2 trees that were threatening the power lines...the arm has healed and only a lump is left...and I'm not having to live on pain medication...both his pipes and my water-heater are soon to be fixed/replaced...not cellulitis and the sciatica is less...

And it is

with Chris celebrating his very FIRST!!!

Presenting Lachlan!

Who arrived with much love and fanfare at the end of May.

And a happy start to the summer as James bought a year family pass to King's Island...so they are going almost every weekend!!!

Lennon is good...and happy that Florida has a realistic chance of going blue this November.

So...here we are...the middle of the year...and there have been a few health issues/adjustments...but both John and I are STILL here, and beginning our 7th year together!

Planning a retreat soon...and after the past month...we deserve it!

Because we've managed to survive...

Love,

Carla, John and the Cats
