To Convict or Acquit...and Why Are the Three Stooges Representing Him??? The Senate Trial...

Well...that is three days of life I'll never get back!

The Impeachment Managers did an excellent job of pre-coup...coup...and post coup events along with video...live footage and tweets.

Their star witness...although he was nowhere near the proceedings...was none other than the big orange guy himself.

IKR???

It seems like every thought he had for more than four years came right out of his mouth...usually in front of a camera...and/or in writing on Twitter.

Since he had already lost the first team of 5 lawyers before his trial even started...apparently they had to shop at Dave's Bargain Basement House of Lawyers.

His legal team was made up of the guy who represented Jeffery Epstein...a guy who represented Bill Cosby...and Vander-whatever...who shouted and lied a lot.

After seeing the Epstein lawyer in action...I finally realize Jeff probably did kill himself after listening to this guy for a couple hours.

How do you defend the indefensible?

Easy.

1. You claim it wasn't REALLY an insurrection.

(I'm sure those poor people hiding between seats and listing to the mob try to break down the door chanting "hang Mike Pence" will be relieved to hear that)

2. You makes a montage of every time any Democrat ever used the word FIGHT in a sentence.

(...one that lasts 9 minutes...omfg...)

3. You use your last hour yelling...lying...saying your client is actually the victim and that his 1st Amendment Rights are being infringed upon.

(...once again those people crawling under tables and such probably didn't give a damn about his precious rights while they were wondering if they would make it out alive...)

In short...they had nothing.

And the Q&A Session directly after showed just how much nothing they had...when there were several questions they had absolutely no answer for...

I guess you get the defense you pay for.

I hope they got their money upfront...or they're screwed.

Now we wait.

The vote is tomorrow.

This evening, Kevin McCarthy unleashed a bombshell by letting the media know about an exchange he had with Trump while the riot was happening...when he asked Trump to call the rioters off and his response was

"Maybe they care more about the outcome of the election than you do, Kevin."

To which McCarthy replied

"Who the f**k do you think you're talking to???"

Ben Sasse described his reaction to the attempted coup as "delighted" and could not understand why the people around him were horrified.

Around 20 GOP Senators (...Cruz, Graham, Lee and their ilk...) already decided to acquit before this trial ever started...they are hopeless and must be voted out at our earliest convenience.

That leaves 30 GOP Senators.

Sincerely hoping at least 17 of them will do the right thing and convict...not holding my breath...but hopeful.

I'm not going to watch the vote in real time. I'll wait for AP to announce it.

Then I'm done with Trump...seriously done.

We have a wonderful new administration in now...

I'm going to relax and enjoy the drama-free days!

Post Super Bowl Autopsy...

I had forgotten about post-SB Monday...when there just isn't enough coffee in the world to get you vertical...and the half pound of BBQed meat...half bag of Kettle chips...half pint of dip...half a mini pie with whipped cream...three bottled Cokes...and a chocolate pudding cup (just because it was there) makes you swear off food for the day...starting the day at 11 AM...

My guy lost, and John doubled his money.

Brady has ANOTHER trophy and ring...and the Buccaneers have a well-earned win.

I think he may be going for a complete set...only 3 fingers left.

And I am pretty sure I heard Belichick scream from here.

The National Anthem was unique, and I loved the fact that the guy ASL'd through the whole thing.

The flyover, and fireworks, were beautiful!

Flyover

https://youtu.be/ZqODB7Vh2qQ

The commercials ranged from poignant to really really funny.

2 assistant coaches and one officiator were woman (a first) this year...progress.

Amanda Gorman did a special tribute poem for the Frontline Healthcare Workers!

Halftime was annoying...bright and flashing and omg...do you just WANT us to have a seizure???

Now about the game...

Love Brady or hate Brady...if you actually watched the game you have to admit that last night was the Bucs night.

Even Patrick Mahomes was the first to congratulate Brady and tell him

"You guys were awesome, man!"

(...and the Chiefs were my team and cost me a few bucks last night...)

Brady was poised and unflappable...but it was his defense that guarded Kelce and Hill stronger than the Pentagon is secured...that really determined the outcome of this game.

Our Defense was strong...loved the first quarter hold off at the goal line!!! But they weren't as strong as the Buccaneers.

Gronkowski and Brady were a force of nature.

Both QB's had overthrows...and in a couple cases interceptions.

And the Chiefs have got to learn the kindergarten lesson of

KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!!!

They cost us a lot of yards by hanging off the other team like rat terriers during crucial game play.

There was also pass interference (both sides)

Also a case of unsportsmanlike conduct called on one of the Bucs for taunting toward the end of the 4th Quarter...when it became evident they were going to win.

But when the dust settled...the Tampa Buccaneers were the obvious winners and they deserved it...

Now to clean up the kitchen...and find more coffee...and maybe pants.

And a special shout-out to CBS who opened their firewall and let EVERYONE watch the game for FREE instead of making us find a way around it.

                                                            "...pirate..."

Superbowl Sunday...GOAT & The Kid...and This Week's Update

Super Bowl Sunday!!!

Started the day with Coffee and Chat with John, and Catch-Up with Angie (...who is still battling the effects of Covid!!!) and Cherry Pie and Whipped Cream...because I could.

Excited over this game. Tom Brady...43 and The G.O.A.T. Six time SB winner.

Patrick Mahomes...25...amazing player and last year's SB winner.

A modest wager from both John and I on this one...but seriously a win-win no matter the outcome.

It is going to be one hell of a game.

He is going with baked lasagna.

I'm doing Pulled Pork with Jack Daniels BBQ...and my guilty pleasure- Kettle Chips with French Onion Dip.

...I never buy them because nobody needs a whole bag of chips or a pint of dip...and I have zero will-power when it comes to both...

But tonight there will be chips!

Had to laugh when Mahomes remembered the first time he had ever seen Tom Brady, and he reflected

"I was in kindergarten...he had just won his first Super Bowl."

So, this week has been a roller-coaster.

Starting with our middle (Lennon) losing his 90 y/o grandmother...who he has been caring for the past 10 years...and the mountain of details that incurs.

And The Groundhog saw his shadow...so we think we have the solution...

The other other white meat.

And the trial soon to start in the Senate to hopefully convict Trump of Sedition.

And to-date all but 10 of the GOP just can't understand why we won't

"Move On...let this go...unity and all that..."

Yeah...Unity my ass...okay???

Let me break this down for you.

If you attempt to rob a bank...but you fail...you still get charged with attempted robbery.

If you try to kill someone but fail...it is still attempted murder.

And if you attempt a Coup....and fail...well you STILL attempted a Coup.

You don't just get to walk away...scot free.

In most other countries...you wouldn't walk away at all.

Biden and Harris have such a mess to clean up. To their credit they have hit the ground running...and a clear Covid path is emerging.

Stadiums are now being used for mass vaccinations...and the National Guard is being activated to disburse them.

I am hopeful.

No book of the week... but the Movie of the Week...

With Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, and Rami Malek.

The best film of the year, so far.

Love the casting. Denzel seems to be maturing in his roles taking on an almost Morgan Freeman wisdom persona.

Leto is perfect as the serial killer suspect.

Malek and Washington make up a weathered ex-homicide detective with a past and the new guy on the job team, that is credible.

And the one thing everyone looks for....closure.

Brilliant film...you'll love it.

It was 1 degree when I woke up this morning. Thanks to this week's Polar Vortex we are suppose to be down in the negatives by the end of this week.

Saw this ice sun-catcher craft and thought it was a neat idea...you can even add a drop of food coloring for color.

May have to give it a try, soon.

Have a Great Sunday

                       and Enjoy The Game!!!!!

Virtual Africa: ACEI Dynamite Factory Johannesburg, South Africa

Located in nearby Motterfontein, the town was once a small mining village. Along the main street the Franz-Hoenig Haus is a museum standing as a testament to its beginnings.

Today the ACEI Dynamite Factory still is a functioning business...and has been since 1894.

Sadly...a virtual tour is impossible as video is not allowed inside.

Still, we will spend the day checking out what Motterfontein has to offer.

Next to the Mud River the town's name is Afrikaans for "mud spring or fountain".

Along with the Dynamite Museum the town has a nature reserve...perfect for a weekend braais (Grill-Out) or a hike along many of the trails.

Guided walks and runs...and assorted wildlife make this an interesting day trip.

The town also sports a Farmer's Market each Saturday.

Often with live music and entertainment.

Try the Green Craft Bar nearby. Known for craft beers, pizza and gourmet burgers!

Then Go Ape at the aerial park by the same name!

I hope you enjoyed today's adventure...

Let it SNOW...Bernie in Mittens...Brunches and More

The Holidays are over.

The chocolate-covered cherries are finally gone.

Busy week with Chris and Don here for a Winter Brunch of Meatloaf and mashies and green beans...with apple cobbler, catching up and politics for afters.

"No...I do not sound like a REPUBLICAN!!!"

My sister, Tina and her husband Chad  (also Bandit, their chihuahua) came today bearing a pot of homemade chili...an iron skillet of corn bread and a bottle of Moscato. I baked a cherry crostada for afters with whipped cream and had cheddar to top the chili.

It was wonderful!

Tina's tribute to RBG.

Since we are all political animals we spent several hours dissecting...pretty much everything that has occurred since November 3rd...also these:

And my personal favorite...

Yeah...we may have too much time on our hands...just saying.

But now the house is quiet and warm...and beautiful duck feather flakes of snow (the really huge stuff) is silently falling. I have a stem glass of our leftover Moscato and Sofi-Cat and I sat watching the snow coming down until it became too dark to see.

Tomorrow, the very last day of January.

Still in queue for Obama's- A Promised Land.

The Movie this Week:

Wonder Woman 1984

Good casting, great cinematography, well done.

WW brought into modern times.

Good message, funny at times, and a nice feel good ending...what else could you ask for?

Well worth the time.

Excited about a Mahomes/Brady SB next Sunday!!!

And mixed news on the Covid scene...with 4 variants now...and the African variant above, the latest to join us in the USA.

Although we had several days of 4000 or just under deaths...we are also seeing a gradual decline of new infections.

The death rate is staying much the same at 3 per 100 infected...both in the US and Worldwide.

There are 103 MILLION infected worldwide now.

Johnson and Johnson is soon to release their 1 and Done jab...with 66% efficiency worldwide...and a higher 75% here in clinical studies. But the best part is that zero of the people who received the J&J required hospitalization...even if they did get mild symptoms and nobody in the test group died of Covid.

No One!!!

And the J&J seems to handle the variants.

Pfizer is formulating a booster to handle the known variants.

No word from Moderna yet.

Dr. Fauci says that by the holidays next year we may be approaching some semblance of normal.

That is good enough for me.

Have a Great Weekend!

Oh...and every good thing (...rains finally in Cali...) often comes with a bit of bad news.

As part of the coastal highway (Highway 1) through Big Sur eroded and collapsed into the Pacific Ocean soon after.
