Juneteenth...Birthday Brunch with Brenda...Storms & More

Busy week, this...as the Supreme Court has once again upheld the ACA...President Biden has returned from a successful meeting with world leaders...he and his wife representing America on the world stage once again without faux pas or the embarrassment that was the prior four years...and today has finally become an official federal holiday.

Celebrated in Texas for over a decade...now celebrated nationwide.

Progress.

Earlier this week celebrating Brenda's 67th birthday with homemade lasagna...sliced tomatoes with basil...garlic bread and a slice of New York Style cheesecake with warm praline topping.  Chat and lotions and potions. It was a wonderful afternoon!

John sent these images from his pond this week...where they have been fishing and even caught a few!

Momma and Daddy- and the 8 goslings!

Marsha and a friend...we will call her Jane.

Marsha and John..and Jane.

...in true guy fashion...he remarked...maybe it is a threesome ???...

And an adorable little guy that Angie babysat for her friend Sue after she rescued him...at The Shoppe.

Meet Sam.

Tiny and snuggly and cute!

Touching base with everyone after last night's fierce storms...

Hail in New Palestine Indiana.

James sent photos of 3" hail in Cloverdale.

Tina reports that the chicken yard is 2.5" of mud and they are spreading straw.

It stormed here all night long with high winds and a deluge of rain...although no real damage...it completely wiped out every flower I had budded or bloomed. Including the lilies who had survived flooding and a late late snow.

Gone.

They just weren't meant to be, I guess.

I will replant the tub soon.

There are supposed to be more strong storms arrive tonight.

Pretty sure Lennon will be getting blowback from the tropical storm that just made landfall in the Gulf...but not a lot.

Chris came by Thursday to show me his newest guitar

The Bride

A Brand New Genuine Fender Strat from California.

...registered and Certificate of Authenticity...

Traded off  his Martin and another electric guitar for it.

It's just beautiful!

No new film this week...and a re-read of a John Green novel I particularly liked

Although the statement means a state of infinite regression...the book is a wonderfully poignant story set in Indiana of a girl living with OCD.

And its affect on everything in her life...from friendships...personal...and her romantic relationship.

Aza's type of OCD is Contamination/Intrusive Thoughts.

Of the four classifications:

Contamination

Intrusive or Taboo Thoughts

Doubt and Self Harm

Symmetry and Arranging

This would seem the most difficult for adaptation.

Where most of us enjoy a kiss...she is disgusted and thinking of the microbes now teeming/invading her mouth.

Where we enjoy a good meal she is focused on the food now decomposing in her gut.

A story within a story, well told by this Indiana author.

If you haven't read it...try it...you might like it.

 Have a relaxing weekend!
