A Cupful of This Week's Adventure...

"I may only be 3 inches tall...but I'm stalking YOU."   ~ Sofi

Let THE GAMES begin.

"You kept the receipt...right?"  ~Shelby

It has been a long time since either of us has had to deal with a baby in the house.

So this week has been a lot like this:

OMG, it is sooooooooo cute.

OMG, it is sooooooo annoying.

OMG, what have I done???

OMG, it it soooooo loud.

OMG, it's IN my FOODBOWL!

OMG, look at her hop and play.

OMG, if you SWAT at my tail one more time, I'm going to EAT you.

Can I help it if you broke yours off???

Mom, make it STOP.

It has been one week, and she already knows her name.

Sofi.

and the word NO.

Or maybe she thinks her name is

"Sofi-NO"

It is certainly a possibility.

As are

"Down...Damn it."

"Why you little..."

"Not there...in the litterbox"

and "Shut the hell up."

We are adapting.

"You know I own you now, right?"  ~Sofi

Shelby is warming up to her, or at least able to be on the same sofa with her.

Their initial meeting was hilarious.

Shelby puffed up indignantly, fangs bared and a terrifying hiss.

To which Sofi drew herself up...all three inches of her bad self and gave this tiny hiss right back...fearless.

Shel looked stunned and just padded off in disgust.

She (Shelby) then attempted a hunger-strike.

I went ahead and fed Sofi.

Not Ghandi...her strike lasted about an hour...then she nosed out

"Hey...I was just messing around...ya got any of that food left?"

By then, of course, Sofi was already surveying her new Kingdom.

And Shelby was like

"Effing Thrilled"

So I now have The DIVA and my Street-Kitty.

"Why, I never!" ~Shelby

"Back off, Bitch...I'll cut you." ~Sofi

"Who ME?  Nobody ever suspects the kitten. heh, heh, heh..."

Never a dull moment!

Somehow in the midst of all this cat-foolery John and I managed our getaway, and a side-trek out to see Loretta in her new assisted living digs.

Adjusting well. And let's just say the shades and the tennis shoes that match...that isn't an accident...lol!

Loved the fountain and sitting area on the long porch with wooden rockers. We went out to lunch and enjoyed a bit of shopping together.

And now I have to plant some of those green hydrangeas next summer!

As always, over too soon...but we (John and I) managed fitting in a wonderful Our Time adventure as well.

And some amazing windshield time together.

NOT A CAVE...lol

With ZERO speeding tickets...so that's a plus.

Some of the big news this week involved James & Chris and both of their purchases of VR Headsets and games...and my FINALLY trying VR out.

OMG!!!

If you have never tried VR, you simply MUST.

Words don't even begin to describe it.  While at James'  I put the headset on to experience the Batman Game. The beginning has you perched high on a ledge of a cliff. Totally immersed at this point he slowly started to roll my wheelchair forward...

Although I knew I was

On solid, level ground

In their living room

Instinctively my arms and body jumped and flailed as though I would actually go over (off) the cliff.

Yes. It is THAT realistic.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday Dinner with them.

Man...can Nicki cook!!!

And brought my tiny Calico Manx (Sofi) home that very night.

"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

Finally made my way to the head of the queue and read

this week.

A joint effort between former POTUS: Bill Clinton
and Best-Selling Author: James Patterson.

Fairly incredible, actually.

You can see where Clinton's behind-the-scenes intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the White House elevated this story from merely good to great.

Suspense, cyber-crime, firesale, spies, love, assassins, patriots and villains. It's all in there.

A Must Read.

The Movie this Week:

What's not to love?

Opening with your consummate car-guy working on a 70's vintage TransAm in his garage...vinyl on a record player...finishing his work with "I love you" and a cold beer when he finally gets her to turn over.

(and haven't we all been there)

Only, he is a dying breed. The world around him has gone futuristic. Driverless cars. Pizzas that can be printed for dinner.

A dinosaur caught in the tar-pit of technology.

I found myself feeling kind of sorry for him.

Then the real story begins.

A sci-fi thriller about AI, cyber-modifications to humans, the fine line defining what makes us human, and power.

Twists and turns, and an ending that just begs SEQUEL.

May have been the best movie I've seen this year.

If you can only see one.

See this one.

You won't be disappointed.

Chris and Tina putting the finishing touches on their Save The Date wedding cards.

James and Nicole soon to celebrate their 5th Anniversary!

And last, but not least

WHAT NOW????

Beginning where we ended last week as Trump's Star on Hollywood Blvd. was AGAIN attacked by a man with a pick-axe and broken to so much rose-granite colored gravel.

but wait...there's more...

It seems Hollywood took a vote and decided to REMOVE Trump's star once and for all because of his bigotry, misogynistic comments and behavorism. Gone. Outta there. Never to return.

So anyway...thanks, pick-axe guy!

Still no verdict in the first of the Manafort Trials.

Omarosa has her book out and the undivided attention of the POTUS with (now) her tapes.

And is there anybody who hasn't taped this guy, now?

Trump is angry and is trying or has removed security clearance from those who disagree/anger him...including "Served under Six Presidents"  CIA Brennan.

And boy is he pissed.

Pissed enough that he has finally used the T word (as in TREASON) and it is about fucking time someone did!

The Pentagon decided that The Orange Man will NOT be getting his outlandishly expensive ego massage...er...Military Parade in November.

And Rudy has been blathering on about Mueller's investigation and not letting His Marmaladeness be caught in THE PERJURY TRAP.

(*note...a great way to avoid The Perjury Trap is NOT TO LIE...okay??)

How difficult is that?

Excited because the Blue Wave appears to be building with polls reporting an upswing of 300% new registered Democrats this year!!!!!

Hoping we clean The House and Senate!

And sad news this week with the deaths of Queen of Soul: Aretha Franklin and Nobel Peace Prize Winner & NATO's: Kofi Annan.

 More as it comes...

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Day 6 in Captivity

Today, she used the water-boarding torture...again.
Human captor refers to this as a BATH.

I told her nothing.
Later, I will defecate in her shoe to show my utter contempt for her methods.

Must admit I smell better, and the last of the
fleas are gone.

I suspect poison in the water.
I am still alive.
For now.

Virtual Australia: Perth

Perth is located at the site of the Swan River Colony, founded in 1829.

Swan River named after these

Black swans being indigenous to Australia.

Perth is the capital city of the state of Western Australia.

In the late 19th Century it was also the focus of a Gold Rush and the population grew from around 8,500 people to 61,000 seemingly overnight.

The current population is roughly 2 million.

This only takes into account Greater Perth...and not the surrounding areas.

Things to do/see in Perth

https://www.westernaustralia.com/en/things_to_do/must_do_and_top_10/pages/top_10_free_things_to_do_in_perth.aspx#/

One, of which, is the port-side Freemantle Marketplace.

Established 1n 1897, it boasts both open air stalls and hall.

Face it. They had me at whole Bean Coffee and Cupcakes!

Walking Tour

https://youtu.be/_C7UWUxY4sY

Somewhat reminiscent (for me) of the French Market in New Orleans; filled with music, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and the smells of vendors stalls sizzling with locally prepared dishes to try when you are tired of walking and feeling a bit "peckish".

If you can't find it here...you probably never needed it, anyway!

Something that is offered here, and in none of the larger cities in Australia, is

WEST CAMEL RIDES

Billed as a memorable way to see Swan River and explore the city of Perth.
I would have to agree.

Camel Ride

And in the Perth Hills

The Calamunnda Camel Farm

Hope you have enjoyed this virtual day-trip of Perth, WA.

More next week.

...politics...

Yeah, it is kind of like THAT.

It has been such a relief for a political junkie, such as myself, to move political gab to the Twitterverse these days.

I am pretty sure my friends and family on Facebook and other social platforms (...and tend to be all over the place religiously and politically...) are thankful too.

To put the whole matter in perspective. Take Facebook for instance. I have 147 friends on FB. I know each one of these people personally. I don't "friend" strangers or gather random people. Quite a few are my family. A few are kids who grew up with my kids, now grown. Some are Texas Gathering friends. Or our DS Group...that turned into extended family. A few I know from my Nursing Career.  Three are Bill's old college roommates. One is his ex-wife. One is my best friend, Idgy and one is (...love you, bigly & muchly...) John.

In contrast on Twitter I follow 4886 people and am followed by 4152 last count.  I know NONE of them. Although we often talk amidst ourselves or sit up until random hours of the night together holding our breath through special election returns. (...think last night...)

We will never have coffee together...or brunch...or even hold a political protest or rally outside of cyber-space

And that's okay.

The anonymity is nice. Like the drunk at the bar babbling his hopes, dreams, ideas, grievances, or secrets to a local stripper...I can talk politics without fear or worrying what anyone else thinks of my opinions, outrage, smart-assed comments.  Don't like what I have to say? Don't appreciate my cynical humor? Clutch your pearls and have vapors at my use of the word  "fuck"?

Unfollow me. No harm no foul.

I probably won't even notice.

I get to chat  real time with some people I would never have otherwise had the chance to...as well.

Favorite authors. Comedians. Actors. Politicians.

It seems everybody has a twitter account now.

It I can make (author) Christopher Moore laugh...I consider the day an amazing success. More often than not, though, he makes me pass coffee through my nose. He is a hard guy to out-funny.

I've learned that Stephen King dislikes Donald Trump as much as I do...but John Cusack hates him more than the both of us combined...lol!

Sometimes I troll Trump. When he has come off with something particularly obnoxious or stupid...I been known to comment it with

"You know you're STILL going to prison, right?  Just keepin' it real."

Anyway...politics.

I stay in my Blue Bubble. I do not troll MAGA people. They have their own issues.

Bless their tiny hearts.

Do these look like stable, happy people to you?

So most of my rhetoric falls on the ears of the choir...or at least the recently converted. I am aware it is an echo chamber, and I'm okay with that.

This Administration takes care of any chaos that may or may not have been lacking in my life...daily.

So last night...sitting up late because...politics...okay.

Twittering with other political junkies. All of us on VOX...getting the up-to-the-minute news on the Ohio 12th District Special Election returns.  Fingers poised over the refresh button.  Jabbing away.

Yes...a lot of us.

Yes...we know it is a sickness.

No...we don't care.

Several Primaries yesterday, too...but the results of those can wait until morning.

Ohio's was Special...not only a seat in the House in balance...but yet another litmus test for November's Blue Wave.

Typically a deep red (for at least 3 decades) District...it should have been a hands-down GOP win... Troy -vs- O'Connor

But not this year.

Voter turnout was up 152% with the Democrats, and down 35 percent with the GOP- in Iowa this year. Kind of a bellwether.

At midnight the race was still too close to call separated by less than 1800 votes...with an additional 8000 still out in absentee and provisional ballots. Troy was up by .9%

Of course, Troy and Trump and Fox News called it for Troy...but none of the other networks did or would...

Once all the votes are counted...then we will know.

Regardless of who wins or loses...and sure...I want O'Connor to win...but he already has.

The GOP knows the force they will be reckoning with in November.

(...and trust me...they are scared shitless...)

Hopefully with an even larger increase in numbers by then. And unlike District 12, which has been a Red Keep for years...the rest of Ohio has pockets of purple and blue.

This was the REAL message.

The rest of the week's politics...it would be funny...if it were someone else's government and country, I guess.

Where Trump tweeted and threw Junior under the bus.

Gates flipped on Manafort and told everything...even the fact that he conned and stole from....

wait for it

Paul Manafort.

Who was so busy conning and stealing from everyone else he didn't even notice.

"Et tu, Rickie?"

Apparently there really is no HONOR among thieves.
Who knew?

And the ACLU has now filed a suit against Dobby the House Elf Sessions because of the way this Administration treated asylum seekers.

"Bad Dobby...Stupid Stupid Dobby"

And Guiliani says now his client (...perhaps you know him...Twitler...) will not be having a voluntary sit down with Mueller anytime soon.

You know what they call an involuntary sit down with Mueller, right?

A Subpoena!

Can't wait :)

And lastly...Chris Collins and 4 of his Congressional GOP buddies have been
arrested for Insider Trading.

And we all know how well that went down for Martha "no time for the yard...redecorating my cell here" Stewart

And it is only Wednesday.

Jesus Wept.

More as it comes...and you know it will...it always does.

Virtual Australia: Things Supersized

Australia has made almost a cult out of Supersizing things.

It all started in 1912 with Big Lizzie. An over-sized tractor shown here next to a Land Rover for an idea of scale.

Eventually, their love for the ridiculously big became an offshoot tourist industry.
Much like our Giant Ball of Twine or The World's Largest Fry-Pan in the States.

Now every state and territory in Australia has at least one LARGE statue to see. 150 of them scattered throughout.

Here are some.

Since we are in Western we will begin with
