Virtual Australia: Perth

Perth is located at the site of the Swan River Colony, founded in 1829.

Swan River named after these

Black swans being indigenous to Australia.

Perth is the capital city of the state of Western Australia.

In the late 19th Century it was also the focus of a Gold Rush and the population grew from around 8,500 people to 61,000 seemingly overnight.

The current population is roughly 2 million.

This only takes into account Greater Perth...and not the surrounding areas.

One, of which, is the port-side Freemantle Marketplace.

Established 1n 1897, it boasts both open air stalls and hall.

Face it. They had me at whole Bean Coffee and Cupcakes!

Walking Tour

Somewhat reminiscent (for me) of the French Market in New Orleans; filled with music, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and the smells of vendors stalls sizzling with locally prepared dishes to try when you are tired of walking and feeling a bit "peckish".

If you can't find it here...you probably never needed it, anyway!

Something that is offered here, and in none of the larger cities in Australia, is

WEST CAMEL RIDES

Billed as a memorable way to see Swan River and explore the city of Perth.
I would have to agree.
