Caturday...

And yesterday there was a blizzard in LA...

But yeah...you just keep telling yourselves there is no climate change!

We have possibly had the mildest winter on record, here. Only 3 light snows...one week of extreme cold...and already some 60 and 70 degrees.

Africa is experiencing some bad flooding.

And everywhere worldwide you are hearing about bizarre weather patterns.

We got very lucky a few days ago when this went through...from coast to coast...up north.

Here in Indiana we got some rain off of it.

Wednesday, our temperature was 70 degrees, and it was sunny.

All signs point to an early Spring, here. The birds are back, as well as flies and bees!

Some of the trees are budding. The moss is bright green, now...and the willow tree is starting to get that yellowish green veiled appearance.

And I have this insatiable desire to plant...anything...almost time to play in the dirt!

Of course, it is still too early....but I can PLAN.

Finished the weekend Cinderella-ing yesterday...so I could have a complete Sat/Sun to relax...get a bubble bath...fix food.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love,

Carla & the Sofi-Cat

Virtual South America: Mexico...Los Cabo

Cabo San Lucas...(Cape of Saint Luke)...known by most as Los Cabo (The Cape) is located in Baja (...pronounced Ba-Ha)

It is a predominate tourist destination noted for its beaches, spas and diving.

In the winter it is also known for its pods of whales and whale-watching.

This well recognized archway of rock is known as El Arco de Cabo San Lucas...which I will begin painting while in Virtual Mexico.

...must have a beach painting...

This is the view from the air.

This is the home of the Cabo Wabo bar...owned by Sammy Hager and the other members of Van Halen...named after the song.

Also ordered my bit of silver and turquoise from Tijuana this week...and it should arrive soon.

Amazing...genuine and less than 10 USD.

More soon!

Found this and ordered it (used)

Kansas City Chiefs Win...Valentines Day...Otto...Dreamland and The Whale

And he took the whole family to Disney World!

I was just happy that we finally got to see Bronze's face...okay???

What a lovely family.

Our Valentine's Escape included a viewing of

Which was a wonderful role for Hanks.

Playing a man who has lost his wife...is pushed out of his job to retirement...and has serious control issues (...think tries to police The World...) and the funny delightful compassionate couple that moves next to him.

And a pussy-cat, of course.

This one is a must see.

...and John and I freely admit to exhibiting Otto-like tendencies from time to time...especially the exclamations of "IDIOT" under ones breath...

The week's new has been all over the place.

From the loss of Raquel Welch-

And impending loss of Former President Jimmy Carter.

To still finding survivors of the Syrian-Turkey Quakes 300+ hours out...including this little one.

Martha Stewart who now has street-cred because she got a tat of Snoop Dogg!

And a drug bust on I-70 of 154 pounds of uncut cocaine.

...and you seriously have to laugh at John and I, out at breakfast, breaking this down into ounces and grams and how many times it would be stepped on...to figure out the approximate street value...

A LOT.

The Whale?

 Open to the public now...

Yeah...THAT escalated quickly.

From the original (First Wave) beta testing group of us, numbering 10,000, to a couple hundred million...in a week.

And The Bird?

Mostly toxic.

I have several Ukraine sites I still monitor...but that's about it.

Finished Nicolas Sparks Dreamland, today.

So much more than just another Guy (Colby) meets Girl (Morgan) on a sugar-white sand (perfect) beach...and falls in love.

Oh there is that, to be sure, but he does such a great job of fleshing out the characters...it doesn't feel smarmy.

And in the middle he throws in a nice twist...kind of a story within a story of Barbara and Gary and Tommie.

A nice Hollywood ending...and a feel-good book by a master of the craft.

Enjoying a relaxing Sunday here...and maybe an early Spring.

55 today and supposed to stay in the 50's and 60's next week! The moss is greening up and the Spring birds are back...singing me awake.

I'm Hopeful!

A Valentine's Getaway...

A WONDERFUL escape filled with dark chocolates...cards (even from the cats)....too much good food...midnight Happy Valentine's Day wishes...beautiful silver earrings...a huge balloon (great sneak-in, guy!) and a trip to the cinema to see A Man Called Otto with Tom Hanks, which was sooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

Woke to the sound of Spring birds...nearly 55 degrees and many many cups of coffee.

I believe Spring is coming early.

...I know, when I say this, a blizzard usually follows...

I apologize in advance.

Anyway, life is good!

 Love,

Carla & The Sofi-Cat

P.S

THIS is why guys are no longer allowed to write Hallmark Valentine's Cards...

Superbowl Weekend...Miracle...MVP...A New Tattoo Design

Still swimming with the whale...through the speed-bumps and glitches of a new Social Media site that is expanding to  hundreds of thousands right now.

What started with 10,000 pre-registered (like me) grew on Thursday to over 200,000 by noon. Even with a huge team and 5 servers...it was slammed.

They slowed new admission to 1,000 per hour...it helped somewhat.

It is a wonderful site...be patient.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Gearing up for Superbowl Weekend.

John and I are firmly rooting for Our Chiefs!

Acknowledging that The Eagles have had a phenomenal year.

Patrick Mahomes was deemed MVP yesterday!

So  we've got cheese and crackers and nachos and dips and nuts and an assortment of wonderful snacks for tomorrow's big game!

And a miracle this week.

This little one.

A newborn girl dug out of the wreckage and aftermath of the earthquakes and subsequent after-shocks.

A miracle because she was just born...still attached to her dead mother by her umbilical cord. The rest of her family crushed in the rubble.

And yet somehow she survived.

A couple of cats have been dug out alive mostly pissed off...and I have seen one thoroughly traumatized dog pulled from the mix of stone, plaster and rebar.

Over 25,000 people have perished and an estimated 75,000 are injured.

Countries from all over the world, including our own, are assisting in the humanitarian crisis.

Proving people can be amazing.

And that new tat design?

Don't know just where yet...but definitely going to happen!

Jumping off to police the house...touch up my hair (found some rich mink dye)...maybe get a short nap and later dinner.

Can't wait for tomorrow!

"See mom, I told you that you were a crazy cat lady!"

Update:  We Won!!!!!

What a great game!

Spoutible...Turkey...Madonna...and the Kelce Brothers

Yep...I'm swimming with the whale!

Part of the Beta (pre-registered) Group...testing a soon-to-be-made public...brand new social network.

Chris Bouzy (founder) has been wonderful involving all of us in almost every decision concerning the site...including the name and logo...features like editing and character length...videos...and more.

Our group has had access to the beta since the first of February.

We have watched as speed has increased dramatically...ferreted out bugs and blips...and enjoyed each other's company.

Tonight we are planning to watch The SOTU address, and share commentary.

It is shaping up to be a nice little community and eventually a viable alternative to the toxicity His Muskiness has allowed to take over Twitter.

"If I wanted to argue with MAGA-Heads I wouldn't have spent so much time blocking them..."

A great example would be the Chinese Balloon this week.

MAGA:  "They is spyin' on us...it might even have bio...bio...viruses inside...Ima git mah gun an shoot er down mahself."

Sensible People:  "It is as big as three buses...no shotgun or rifle has that kind of range...it is over 60,000 feet in altitude...and anything that big carrying who knows what would be a danger to bring down over a populated area."

China: "It is a stray weather balloon..and you people are nuts."

MAGA: "Biden is a pussy and we need to shoot'er down."

Sensible People:  "All transmissions have been jammed...no signals can be sent back...it is out over the ocean now and has been shot down by the AF and is being recovered so we can see what it really was...weather balloon or spy balloon...either way it is gone and no one was harmed."

MAGA:  Whal...NOT LIKE THAT. Besides...what about Hunter Biden's Laptop?????"

sigh

Watched horrified last night and this morning as several strong earthquakes and over 100 aftershocks decimated a large part of Turkey and Syria. Last counts over 5000 dead and thousands injured/hospitalized.

By late last night an International Emergency 4 had been issued and even countries who were warring with the nations involved we sending troops to assist and humanitarian aid.

Because that is what we do when there is a crisis.

Even Ukraine immediately sent help...and they are in the middle of their own war...FFS.

And speaking of horrified...

Did you see Madonna's new look?

From the fresh faced Material Girl of the 80's-90's to this...

To a barely unrecognizable Madonna after way too much plastic surgery.

She is 60-something now...and it is sad.

Mama Kelce is excited that both her boys are playing in the SB and has been baking cookies for them.

Whatever happens Sunday...she is a winner!

Found a couple of winners this week, myself.

Arbys has been setting itself apart from the other fast foods by having limited time only specialty sandwiches...including beef brisket and pork ribs. But the latest two really amazed me.

The Wagyu Burger.

Sure, it is pricier...Kobe Beef Blend...but it is outstanding. Well worth the extra bucks. Tastes like the best steak imaginable...because it is!

Also the Ribeye Steak Sandwich topped with a garlic butter sauce...and Swiss cheese on a buttered bakery bun.

OMG good!!!

Sadly, I cannot say that about this week's book:

Characters fleshed out in that unmistakable Grisham style...following four generations of Dixieland Mafia and their rise on The Southern Strip.

I think it was the subject matter instead of the actual writing style that was problematic for me.

I know there was a moment when in my head they became

The Red-Neck Mafia

And...well...he kind of lost me, there.

The best part of the whole novel was the final chapter.

If he had handled the rest of the book the same way..it might have been more interesting.

But no.

Not recommended.

Have a Wonderful Week!

Love,

Carla

February...Groundhog's Day...Tom Brady

And the snow outside is rapidly melting...

Today is Groundhog's Day...and Phil was once again pulled from his cozy warm burrow at some godawful hour to proclaim he has seen his shadow...and we should expect another 6 weeks of winter weather.

sigh

and, in true GHD spirit...Tom Brady has announced his retirement...once again.

...maybe it will stick this time...

Anyway...have a lovely beginning to February!
