New Year's Eve (Goodbye 2019)

Confession...I've already rang the New Year in this morning at 6 AM (our time) in New Zealand...and at 8AM in Australia over the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a 12 minute fireworks display which was incredible (where it is, also, already tomorrow) and, after morning coffee with John and Gadget, in South Korea where ringing in the New Year is literal with deep resounding chiming bells that sound like gongs...

This year, I am chasing NYE around the world comparing the various live-feed celebrations...

India is next and will be at 1:30 (here)

You can see the celebrations, too...immortalized on YouTube.

https://youtu.be/l5HRb_oteqw

Currently...an hour from Midnight (there) and the streets are filled with so many many many people, and everywhere the tinny tweet of hundreds of whistles...who knew? Yes, all men/boys.  Completely different culture. No self-respecting woman would be on the streets at midnight there...or in a huge group of men. It just isn't done.

~Breathe~

This year's goals met for the most part.

Numerous unexpected expenses this year...so that savings plan was shot to hell...

And the PET $100.

Nonexistent.

But like Elizabeth Warren chirps

"I have a plan for that!"

I'll share tomorrow.

Got to spend some real quality time with Family and Friends this year.

John and I, have started our 2nd Year of our Relationship since getting back together...and enjoyed Superbowl Sunday, A Special Valentine's Day Surprise, Mermaid (and Dragon) Getaways, Brown County Together and The Zoo-Boo, Brunches and hanging out with the cats...his birthday...my birthday and Christmas early...coming soon a Movie and Popcorn Date (and the latest/last Star Wars)...and later this month our January Getaway!

Love in The Age of Arthritis...better and better!

(...oh...and sleeping on a blanket under the Christmas Tree...romantic idea...but not so practical if you are over...I don't know...12 years old...)

Tried/Experienced about 30 items from my Life List (and quickly found as many or more that I still want to see/try)

Took most Sundays as Zen Sundays.

Watched my youngest son marry his sweetheart.

In a CASTLE.

With all the family!

Even Lennon made it up!

The tropical heat and rains of summer made the patio garden just explode!

A bounty of fresh herbs...and catnip for every cat I know...and all the neighborhood ferals.

We lost Gizmo...

And Shelby.

And Chris found us Gadget (the kitten formerly known as Suri)

And of course, Sofi.

I spent 5 months (virtually) hiking the entire length of the Appalachian Trail, crossing 14 states and seeing what the trail had to offer in each one.

Beginning at Springer Mountain in Georgia...and ending at the top of Mount Katahdin in Maine.

(...and learning along the way that even in my FITTEST days...this trek would have been impossible for me...I would have quit before ever making it to
Tennessee...lol)

Fell in LOVE with some of the majestic trees along The Trail...but none so much as the Bly Oak at the North Carolina Line.

                                                            Bly Oak

Cut my hair this year after 34 years...donated 2 feet to Locks of Love...and finally tried out the Salted Caramel Coloring I have been contemplating for a few years.

(...they say a woman who cuts (or changes) her hair is ready to change her life...)

It does seem to be true.

Celebrated a Sisters Day with Tina and Lisa every Month...and even got matching sister tattoos!

Chris and Tina took up shooting and target practice together!

Oh...and we IMPEACHED Trump...

Had a much shorter (virtual) Trek on the Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea.

Six days...and saw and tried everything!

And got necklaces commemorating both hikes for the year.

Enjoyed Christmas for the entire month of December.

With Everyone!

And had the BEST Coastal Christmas Tree for 2019.

(...you know you are afflicted with the decorating gene when you don't even have this year's tree stowed away, and you are already thinking of next year's Christmas Colours...maybe Burgundy and Cream...???)

That's right...it's completely hopeless!

Between NYE Celebrations, I am catching up the house and laundry and working with Creative Leftovers.

Between yesterday and today I'm trying to get the leftovers used up and ready for a fresh start tomorrow.

Not the Traditional fare...but completely Italian!

See Everyone Next Year!!!

Happy New Year's Eve!

"Hey Dad, I require your assistance with the television!!!"

Bring on the New Year!

Christmas....is Over

And it stayed this way...

All Month Long

Yes...feeling just like this today!

It has been wonderful...sometimes a bit stressful...but mostly wonderful!

Sofi-

"Santa Came!"

Christmas Dinner...where she talked me out of half my steak!

And it has been a food-intensive month.

Diane and Brenda and I and our Annual Christmas Tea

(okay...and a bottle of Pink Moscato)

Maybe for medicinal purposes.

Or to match the cupcakes.

For the record, you know how Martha Stewart pulls off the matching decor and the perfect party tray and oh-so-cute finger sandwiches probably in the shape of festive holiday snowmen and reindeer...

Yeah...well, apparently, I lack some critical organizing gene...lol!

This was NOT that.

It was a lot of fun, though...and we feasted on cheeses and cold cuts, cupcakes, coffee and cocktail shrimp...talked a lot about the upcoming year and plans...Diane brought us all mini Panetone (...like Italian fruitcakes...only deliciously edible...)

Enjoyed the wine and even went "tipsy Walmarting" afterward.

"Yep...got me on a WUI...Walmarting Under the Influence"

We've decided after all these years...almost  60, 66, and 70...that 2020 is going to be OUR YEAR!

After lifetimes of tending to everybody else's wants and needs

2020 is The Year we say YES to US!

Yesterday's Family Christmas with EVERYBODY!

Including ALL the grands and even my honorary great-grands.

Hannah, Aiden, Brenden, Kaylee, Brittany and Brantley, Emma and Amelia Rose.

It was happy chaos!!!

                                                  James and Nicole

Chris (minus the year-long beard experiment) and Tina

Jack, Brantley, Brittany and Amelia Rose

                                           James with All His Kids!

                                                    James and Chris

                                                Kaylee and Hannah

                                            Emma and Amelia Rose

James Relaxing and Taking it all In

Building Mousetrap: The Boardgame for the Boys

                                                             Emma

                                    My AMAZING Daughter-In-Laws

                                                    Aiden and Nicki

                                                Brenden and Thanos

                                                 Brenden and Nicki

                                                Brittany and Nicole

And The FEAST!

Ham and yeast rolls, green bean casserole and corn, crock pot mac and cheese & mashed red potatoes...chocolate pie and Tina's Baklava Cookies for dessert!

I'm finishing up leftovers here for today and tomorrow...and starting off the New Year with a full on Italian meal...including what is left of the Panetone.

Then on the 2nd...probably the Return of The 5-2 (Fast) Diet!

...because, damn...

Sofi...settled in now...also "peopled out"

But no doubt about it...

We Are Blessed.

And Life is Good.

"...night..."
