Regrouping...Rain...Football and More

 

It has to stop raining...I'm getting mossy, over here!!!!!

 

Unbelievable amount of rain! 

And more this weekend.

Falling back and regrouping after being sick. The house is coming back together. Making a game plan. Have to step up PT/OT in order to remain independent. Increasing Amber's time/duties. Minimizing and making more use of energy-saving/assistive devices.

It's a PROCESS.

Football (preseason) is back!!!! John and I watched the Colts/Patriots Game this week. A tie...but AR looked very good. If they use Indiana Jones for his contracted 2 years and take the time to develop AR...we might have a great QB waiting!

Fall is already creeping in at Brooks Falls...and starting to see the first colors in Alaska. 

Gully has assumed the position.

 Walker is living large.

 And 907 was photo-shopped with a fedora and old-fashioned by one of the bear-folk and is now being called Beary Grant.

...we may have too much time on our hands... 

Most of the bears are off and foraging for ripened berries...but they will return for the Fall Salmon Run and the die-off.

And Then There Was More...

 

So...yeah...it has been kind of like this...

Sick for a couple of weeks...culminating in a trip to ER and injections of both pain meds and muscle relaxants.

Feeling pretty washed out...but better today. 

Thanks to James, Chris, Nicole,  My sister-Tina, and John for all the help and moral support!

Amber will be here later, and we are going to gather the trash and scrub the carpet...as well as installing the new riser toilet seat.

The extra grab bars have been a life changer.

Looking forward to a deep bubble bath tonight.

It's a process...and I am nothing, if not adaptable.

Probably won't be getting back to virtual Jamaica until Monday.

 

 Somebody did a compilation of Scuba Steve fishing...which is pretty funny.

In the last couple of weeks we have lost 2 cubs...the remaining 909 cub...and sadly, one of the Jolly Beans #335 triplets. 

 

Just one of those horrible freak accidents.

335 and her triplets and 132 and her triplets were playing together on a bank...something spooked both families and they treed all the cubs.

132's cubs stayed together.

Two of 335's cubs ran up a nearby tree...but the littlest would scamper up the tree that the 132's  were at.

Instinct took over...132 believed this to be a threat to her cubs and instantly killed the little one...

Because he/she ran up the wrong tree.

It's a tough life being a baby bear.

 Jimothy is still all the rage...with stuffies...tattoos...and now...

Human Again...Bears...Jimothy...Football is Almost Back

 

The (big) Boys are back in town...

And we now have 5 sets of triplet cubs!!!

 #273 brought these three back yesterday.

Soooooooooooooooooo many babies this year!!!!

 

Finally feeling almost human again, after a bout of food poisoning (which was shared with the Tux-Cat).

For the record...I definitely do not recommend...zero stars.

And who's going to clean up this mess???

...it looks like a Cinderella Day...

 

Lost another of the single cubs last night.

Swept over the falls and into the big boars...killed immediately.

...it's a tough life...being a tiny bear...

 Jimothy is going strong!

Even though the Parks Department reminds us that the average raccoon lifespan is 3 years...and he is 2 now.

And Seattle has immortalized him in bronze.

 

 Which is kind of neat!

Jimothy reminds us that maybe being different IS your SUPERPOWER!

 

And the pre-season is almost upon us....and with everything else...aren't we ready...really really needing this.

Summer is winding down...the fireflies are gone...the hummingbirds are working over my morning glories in a frenzy.

John is doing great...finished in home therapy...gaining back weight and muscle...playing Euchre and beating the guys in pool...looking forward to the State Fair...and...yes...I think we've made it, hon!

Wabba's Weed...grown in several different varieties, is suppose to be PREMIUM...the best...okay...that is what the Wabba people tell us, anyway.

 

Most of their fields are outdoors...and huge.

They start life in Gro-Bags...then eventually are staked and planted directly into the ground.

Some of the mature plants are taller than me and bushy.

Indoors, they have samples...pre-rolls...canisters...and feels more like your basic dispensary.

Last Week...Sisters Day...Catching Up...Bearapalooza...Jimothy...and More

The heat has finally broken!

Dropping down to a much more manageable 75-85 degrees...and maybe even some rain tonight.

The pink morning glories are blooming again.

The hummingbirds are thrilled!

Caught up with my boys this weekend.

Chris with big plans for the coming year...and Lachlan who is increasing his vocabulary and even using some ASL, now.

Lennon who has also survived the heat...and only got a backwash of rain from Bertha.

James, whose new album dropped on Friday...and is actively recruiting a sax player into the band.

Spent Saturday's Sister Day with Tina...chat and pizza and a whole pan of brownies!

I've been pretty useless today. Recovering. Finished some laundry...fixed some food...and not a lot else.

The bears have exploded this year and I've lost count of new cubs.  They're everywhere!

An amazing amount of salmon and bears...very little fighting...Bucky #164 has stepped into the Alpha Position 💗

Virtual Jamaica: The Zoo

 We are spending the last day in St. Elizabeth Parish at the local zoo.

Started by the son of a veterinarian it is still tiny (...think those roadside attraction zoos of the 1960s and 70's...) but slowly expanding...every time they have enough money to obtain a new animal.

Their centerpiece is several lions...one, of which, recently ate a handler's finger while he was teasing him...live...on camera...the man lost his finger and his job.

They have an interactive show, and a petting area with horses, a cow, goats, a donkey you can ride.

 

The show has pythons, young crocodiles, parrots and more...and is informative and fun.

 There are also monkeys, zebra, llamas, crocodiles, peacocks, a camel and the lions.

 

All in all...a nice way to end a great parish!

Looking down, I have to admit I have been in love several times in my life...and I am sure this is a level of commitment I do not (nor have ever) possessed.

Whether real or made for tourism...a small industry has formed around the story...including photography at the point...a restaurant...and the lighthouse, standing over 100 feet tall.
