It's Been a Long MONTH this Week...

And a month later- it has happened AGAIN.

This time at a small church in Texas.

A family dispute...that left 26 dead.

And before they even had the blood wiped up, Paul Ryan was sending

"Thoughts and Prayers"

and Donald Trump was sending

"Thoughts and Prayers"

and telling us that this wasn't a GUN issue....this was a Mental Health issue.

Which seemed fairly ironic, since earlier this year he rolled back legislation passed by President Obama regulating patients with mental health issues from acquiring weapons.

Jesus Wept.

And I am thinking

"They were in a damned church...okay....maybe prayers really don't STOP bullets."

So I really hope their thoughts and prayers involve sane gun legislation SOON.

(...I wouldn't hold my breath...)

Another massacre with an assault weapon.

Even the freaking Pentagon issued a statement that Civilians do not need AR's, this time.

Here are some suggestions:

Treat guns like cars.
Mandatory licenses
License renewals
Mandatory training
Mandatory insurance
Operating laws
Operating age limits
Restrict some models
Require safety inspections
Mandatory registration
Background checks

Ban AR's for Civilian Sale

Initiate Federal Buy Back Program

Close the Gunshow Loophole

Stiffer Penalties for Crimes Committed with Guns and Removal of Guns used in Crimes from Circulation.

Will it stop ALL gun related crime?  No

But it is a START.

(..or we could do nothing...like we have been doing for years now...because THAT is working out so well...)

In other news...joining the ranks of Weinstein and Louis...Actor Kevin Spacey accused first by a man who claimed Spacey made inappropriate advances to him when he was 14 years old...and then a line formed, of others, making similar claims. His publicist (before quitting) did release a statement that Spacey is now in treatment for his sexual behaviors) Although I have always liked him as an actor...it would seem he is lacking as a human being. I am glad someone spoke out. Like Weinstein and Louis, this looks as though it may be a sad end to an otherwise outstanding career.

Unless, of course, you are Alabama GOP Candidate Roy Moore...who also got outed this week for improper sexual advances on 4 (to date) under age girls. The youngest sadly also 14.

Then the GOP (...to be fair..some of the GOP...not all) and Faux News will defend you using examples of

Joseph, Mary and the  Baby Jesus.

(....seriously..WTF is wrong with you guys??...)

It was Consensual.

(...Sean Hannity...)

It is a Left Wing Conspiracy.

et al...

So Alabama on December 12th you have a choice

Doug Jones who actually prosecuted the members of the KKK who bombed a church and killed 4 little girls.

or

Roy Moore who stands accused of diddling 4 little girls.

Your Call.

It hasn't ALL been bad news this week, though.

On Election Day (Tuesday) in several states the GOP was hit by a building-in-strength BIG BLUE WAVE

 It was AMAZING.

We flipped 14 elections!

The biggest and best being Virginia.

That night, and the next morning, the return of HOPE and the feeling of being able to do something about Trump, his Administration and this Congress was tangible.  Drop by drop...state by state...county by county...local race by race...we are gathering. Little blue droplets.

By November 2018 we will be a Tsunami!

Chris and Ashley (A friend of mine...Kara's...daughter who I have watched grow up) married at Turkey Run and are now honeymooning in Hawaii!

                                            CONGRATULATIONS!

James & Nicole are celebrating their 4th Anniversary tomorrow!

                                                         Soul Mates
Chris and Lennon, with exciting news this week, too. Both are buying 2017 Toyota Corollas before the end of the year.

Lennon is looking at a blue one, and Chris has his eye on a burgundy one that he may be driving home as early as the end of next week.

"It only has 20 miles on it, Mom!"

Needless to say they are both pretty happy guys!

This week's book...the newly released John Green (the fault is in our stars author) Turtles All The Way Down.

A novel delving into parental loss, coming of age and mental illness. Specifically coming of age while attempting to live with/deal with mental illness. Green has a way of slipping you beneath the very skin of his well developed characters, and letting you experience the world through their eyes. As well as being one of my favorite Indiana writers.

This book also set throughout Indianapolis.

Another best-seller, I'm thinking!

Enjoyable read.

This week's movie:  Thor:Ragnarok

Delightfully funny scenes between Thor and Loki. Anthony Hopkins back as Odin. The arrival of their sister Hella (Death). Jeff Goldblum as The GrandMaster  (...although he is still Ian from JP...lol). A lot of action but you will LOVE the humor in this Marvel Masterpiece.

Maybe  not the Movie of the Year...but definitely the Movie of the Season.  Well worth your time!

Used this photo (taken during a trek with Chris to Edna Hall Woods several years back...where I hung and photographed this little red Christmas ball everywhere)...as my Holiday Card image for 2017

and working to finish a Fall Painting I have started (...before the snow falls and I shelve it until next year...)

Winter just around the corner, now.  Shallow water in the trough is topped with ice. Most of the red, orange and yellow leaves are now brown or lay curled on the lawn.

Today a Cinderella Day, here.  Dust, Scrub, Launder, Wash, Cook and Organize.

In preparation for Sunday's Zen.
