First Snow...and More

Fall has FELL...

And this morning we have our first snowfall.

The accumulation? You would have to have a spark plug gapping tool to measure it, but there it is...in the shaded nooks and crannies.

Our First Snow.

Truth be told, I slept in and missed the whole thing, but I am confident there will be MUCH more before the season ends.

Up with strong coffee.  I had a revelation Wednesday about my Procrastination Habit. After looking at my to-do list that night and realizing there was so much left unchecked. It was truly an epiphany.

I had started the day with 15 things I wanted to accomplish.

Fifteen.

Maybe a regular day Pre-Fred...but these days totally unrealistic.

And everyday I was reaching evening and instead of being happy about what did get done I was beating myself up for not getting it ALL done.

Yeah, I KNOW, right?

So, here is the deal...I'm picking 5 priority items every day. Instead of half-assing or not doing at all...15 things.

I am going to completely focus on those five...and get them accomplished well.

Then if there is extra time I might add something else.

or just a nap.

I've only been at it a couple of days...but it seems to be going much better.

Of course the BIG NEWS here is Sofi has managed to find (and keep clean) her own butt.

You laugh...but trust me that this is bigger than

Us taking the House

Winning the Lottery

Breyer's Tiramisu Gelato

It is HUGE!

No more pasty-butted kitten hopping through the house...dropping "dingleberries" as she went...for me to clean up...or step in/roll over.

She now joins Shelby as the perfect flatmate.

She has grown so much from that tiny kitten with attitude.

From about 3" tall to (now) nearly 10" when she sits up straight and juts that adolescent jaw out repeatedly while attempting to "pick" with you...like

"Well come on, then...bring it...let's see what you have."

Yes...Sofi has become a teenager.

Shelby just walks over her and ignores it.

I like to pick her up right then and remind her she may be a bad-ass but she is still only about 2 pounds and portable.

Needless to say, it makes her absolutely furious.

Our Bye Week is now over and the Capt. and his Troops ready for tomorrow's battle with The Jaguars.

Dearest mother — I have received your care package of cured woodchuck elbows and fresh batch of Squirrel Oil — which has helped my sidearm function tremendously. There will be no battle this week. The men get a much earned rest. We all are in good spirits. I miss you. — Andrew

Dearest mother — The week of carousing has concluded. We must get back to fighting form as a group of Jungle Cat men seek battle and are on their way. Our men are in good spirits. Victory agrees with them, so we shall seek another. Please inform the hogs I am well. — Andrew

Dearest mother — I have received your care package of spiced raccoon cheeks and flattened snake strips. The Jungle Cat men inch closer to our camp. Scouts report hearing growls in the distance and have found traces of grits along their trail. Troubling. — Andrew

Back to the full team (everybody off the injured list) and well-rested. Looking forward to a great game!

 This Week's Book

A Cookbook.

More than "Your Mom's" Cookbook, though.

This is more of a way of life.

It is funny. The internet has made cookbooks kind of redundant. You can go online and find everything...instantly...prepared a hundred different ways.

But this book...is different. It breathes. A Living Cookbook with ideas and combinations I had never thought of before. Simple ingredients made fabulous.

I am adding it to my kitchen.

and you can too...

The
Movie this week

A poignant look at Freddie Mercury and the RISE of Queen.

Although the filmmakers took a few liberties with the story...overall it was accurate and captured not only the sensation that was QUEEN...but also captured the torn loneliness and the always feeling a bit out of place despite his ballsy performances, of Mercury.

Ending with Queen at Live Aid in 1985.

If you are a QUEEN fan...this is a must see.

The news filled with the fires now raging in mid-California.

Three major and several smaller.

And if you are in the path of one or more of these and they tell you to evacuate...please do.  A change in the winds can make these a matter of life and death in mere minutes.

Absolutely nothing you own is worth risking your life over...it's all just stuff.

How to help!

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/10/us/iyw-how-to-help-california-wildfires/index.html

Waiting patiently to hear the results of Florida's recount...and Georgia's Run-Off in December.

And perhaps less patiently for Mueller's summary.

Bob Mueller...kind of an Obi-Wan for the entire Nation at this point.

Have a Relaxing Weekend.

More anon.
