Virtual Africa: Maputo Special Reserve- Mozambique

Another cold wet day, here...but in Mozambique it is 75 and sunny...perfect for our virtual adventure.

The Maputo Special Reserve covers about 400 square miles. It was first established in 1932 to protect a small population of coastal elephants.

Now it encompasses a myriad of animals and birds as well as about 450 elephants.

The reserve is composed of  lakes, wet lands, swamp forests, grasslands, mangrove forests and beaches.
