Virtual AT: Damascus to Grayson Highlands

Rocks and root and mud, oh my....

Not to mention the torrential rain last night, and today's steamy mist.

Back on the virtual AT.

This section would normally take 3 days...but through the magic of virtual travel we will be there in a few...

Hike from Damascus to Grayson Highlands.

And some of the denizens of Grayson Highlands

The only place on the trail with wild ponies!

Around 100 of them.  Leftovers from a ranching experiment where they were trying to breed smaller sturdier horses for the rugged areas of the Appalachians.

The silver haired grey above even has been named by the parks department and is a well known stallion there.

"Fabio"

Named after the male model known for his tresses.

And, at last, the Mount Rogers Shelter

Where we will end our trek for today.

love,

"Beans"

Have a great weekend!
