This Week... Mall-Ratting Bloomington...and COVID-19

I guess I should preface this entry by saying...yes..I am sick...and no..I don't think it is our new plague...and yes...I am quarantining, anyway, until I am sure.
Being an introvert with short bursts of sociability this is more like a vacation from people.
Which is fine.

Our county isn't testing yet, anyway...(and Indiana Department of Health has only tested 85 people total) for the entire state.

Proof if you do not test...your numbers stay low...

SMH!

And since I am (and my friends) are all in the 60 or over, pre-existing conditions, high-risk category...it just isn't worth the chance of spreading it.

At this point it is much more like a bad cold.

Hopefully, a bad cold.

There is Facebook and The Phone and Email to keep in touch.

James and Nicole and The Grands have been/are sick.

Chris and Tina are fine.

Lennon is still fine.

And John is healthy and sent photos of the Kroger Shelves near his house.

Yeah...good times.

sigh

Checked with the kids and John...who have pretty much supplied up, and I have about a month's essentials on hand.
Going to add to it by the end of the month.
Insta-Cart is amazing.

Even those who were sure this was all a "Democratic Hoax" are noticing that
the schools/colleges are closing and going to e-learning...flights are cancelled...most of Europe is closed...Disneyland and Disney World is closed...Churches in ITALY have closed  (...they didn't even close for the World Wars or Black Plague, okay?) NHL...NBL...NBA and March Madness...even talk of the Olympics...the St.Paddy's Celebrations...The Easter Services...The Boston Marathon...either rescheduled or stopped altogether. They've cancelled Coachella, for godsake!!!

Coachella.

The emptiness is eerie.

Yes, this is serious.

At last, WHO has classified this as a pandemic.

In one week we have went from this:

to this:

Although a better up-to-the-minute case breakdown can be found here.

I have to admit I like the John Hopkins site for the "Plague Inc"  look.

World Edition 2020

Yeah, how sick is that???

This explains the differences between Covid-19 and the flu-

We are all hunkered down though...ready to ride it out.

And staying away from the crazy people...

People fighting over hand sanitizer, wipes and toilet paper.

Snatching the last loaves of bread from the shelves.

Angie even related the story of a man in Tennessee stabbed over bottled water.

Panicked people are dangerous.

(...be prepared..not panicked...)

Earlier (before I got sick) was nice.

Brenda, Diane, Eleanor and even Gail (!) converged on Bloomington College  Mall...plundered sales and stores...and checked out new scents at Bath and Body...(where they were also out of those tiny hand-bacs...not one in the entire store)...had Chinese Stir Fry and Bourbon Chicken...and just enjoyed shopping and chat!

Snagged a photo of my grand-daughter, Emma, who is learning to tattoo...and what perfect parents to have.

Angie is getting her Shoppe decorated for SPRING & it is coming along nicely...

So, all it not coughing and sneezing and doom and gloom...lol.

I can't wait to feel better, and start planting a few things!

Stay Healthy & Safe

Love,

Carla
