Cinderella Saturday...Diane's Return and Indiana's First Covid-19 Case

Happy Caturday!

Cinderella Day, here...wash..scrub...launder...dust..dishes and trash.
You know the drill.

Amber will be here for the floors tomorrow, and with the current forecast of sunny and 60...well I am planning for an outside in the borders and tidying, get the Spring pots ready...sort of day!

Gardening will be here before we know it.

Finishing coffee and chat & have a breakfast casserole of red potatoes, onion, peppers, cheese and eggs in the oven to accompany my half grapefruit this morning!

Life is good.

The pollen has already started.

Flonase makes it better.

(...and my nose smells just like Spring Hyacinths...so there is that...)

Diane, Brenda and I met for lunch yesterday, since Diane finally made it back from Florida...and we've gelled plans for a trip to Bloomington next week..and some mall-ratting, shopping and brunch!

And , of course, some good natured ribbing about her returning from Florida by plane...and the virus...

(...which we were only half-joking about since all of us fit the high risk demographic...)

Yeah, I know...

"Bird Flu,...Bird Flu...Bird Flu..."

It's all fun and games until somebody dies...right?

Took a great nap with Sofi when I got in...and then woke to a phone call from John

"We have our first case in Indiana."

REALLY?

(...here, I have been tracking this bug since early January...then I fall asleep and miss the first Indiana case...figures...)

And in Marion County.

Population 950, 082

The guy flew back from the conference in Boston...started feeling sick...got tested...and was positive.

Well Shit!

And with an Ro (R-Naught) of 2.5 it becomes a bad BRECK Commercial.

(..remember the one..."and you tell two friends and they tell two friends...and so on..and so on"...)

Seriously.

Here were the numbers on March 1st...globally

and here are the numbers currently (March 7th)

In the US alone we went from 77 Cases and one death on March 1st...to 340 cases and 17 deaths on March 7th.

By June we may be in the midst of a full blown pandemic.

Remembering Trump live on air telling us when there was 15 US cases...that there would soon be one...then none.

...right...

(Tillerson was right, you know...he's a fucking moron.)

But here we are.

Above all...be prepared...but don't panic.

Don't hoard- but get in a month's supply of non-perishable foods and dry goods/sundry items.

Make sure you keep a personal (large) bubble of space between you and other people...and if you are extremely high risk...limit your possible exposure time out

Hand-wash...hand bac...hand-wash some more..and for godsake QUIT touching your face.

Now is not the time for flying...trains...cruise ships...international travel.

(...suddenly my little Virtual Adventures are looking better all the time...)

Stay HOME if you are feeling sick.

Get tested if you are symptomatic...and find out NOW where you would do that...not at the last minute...and don't just show up in a crowded ER and potentially expose dozens more...call first...and they can handle your arrival with precautions.

(...our first Indiana case had the foresight to call ahead and they were ready for his arrival and brought him in without exposing other people or themselves...)

Stay informed...be alert...but don't panic.

We will make it through this.

Hopefully.

WHO and The CDC now puts the global mortality rate of Covid-19 up to 3.4%
and the numbers check out.

Pence and McConnell recently made it back from a large group meeting where 2 cases emerged.

And Pence has been looking awfully rough the past two days.

Just saying.

We will see.

I've no love lost for Pence..but he may have just taken one for the team.

And to all the people out there who are spouting talking points about the flu
killing more people-

No...the seasonal flu has a mortality rate of 0.01%

Covid-19 now has a mortality rate of 3% plus globally...which is 30x higher.

(..literally saw a Trump Supporter interviewed after one of his rallies who stated she "doesn't believe in the virus" and thinks it is a "Democrat Hoax"...)

A friend of mine used to say there was a Special God for Drunks and Children...if that is true...this woman better hope he includes stupid people as well.

But you do you, honey.

And wait until people start dropping at his rallies

Where a lot of the attendees fit the age...over-weight...under-insured...hygiene lacking criteria...making them high risk.

You will NEVER see Trump beyond a screen again.

He will become President Snow off The Hunger Games

Mark my words.

And for those who say "Well, it only kills old people."

First off...that is not strictly true..it also kills some 30-50 year olds...and the immuno-compromised

(...like my daughter-in-law who no longer has her spleen..)

but also 50-90+ year olds who are someone's Grandmother or Father, Sister or Brother, Mom or Dad, Friend or Lover...

So pardon me...but with all due respect...

Go fuck yourselves.

~breathe~

(...and remember, the older one gets- the less Life in Prison become a deterrent...okay?)

Moving on.

This Week's Movie

There aren't enough words to describe how MUCH I enjoyed this film...and Harrison Ford and his (eventual) canine companion.

A book that I read in childhood come to life on the wide-screen..beautifully!

Well done and entertaining.

A must see.

(..and I have to admit for the first 20 minutes of the film, I am laughing and seeing James' Pocket Bullys pulling some of these bad-dog stunts...)

                                                     "Who? Us?"

This Week's Book

Not a cookbook per se...but a skill-set book.

Non-fiction and very informative with cooking hacks...some of which I had never seen or heard...but am anxious to try!

If you love love love to cook...you need to read this book!

And a proud Mother moment...okay?

Chris starts his last 8 weeks soon..and just finished finals on the past 8. He is holding a 4.0 GPA (Straight A's) and just posted this comment from one of his instructors about a presentation he had to give last week.

He is excited about starting his career this year!

And I am excited for him.

Have a Wonderful Weekend

Now, go wash your hands!!!!
