Kaylee is 15...How Does Your Garden Grow... & Gone Fishing

My Kaylee-Bug...er KB...is 15 years old today.

Having a very GERITOL moment.

Doesn't seem possible.

She and I reminiscing about this picture together, this morning.

"I remember when we used to walk to the library, Grandma...then to the cafe...and stop by the flower shop for a rose...then get glass bottle cokes from the hardware (Charlie had an old fashion dime machine that still worked) and back home (the cottage)."

She was maybe four or 5 at the time.

We have a day planned together...just she and I, soon!

By next year she will be driving.

Solo.

They grow up so fast.

Most of this week has been devoted to basking on NPB, and keeping the plants alive in the 90+ degree heat.

"Bask all you want...I'll do mine in the air con, than you very much!"

Despite my watering efforts...a few have started getting very bedraggled. The Zinnias gave up altogether.

Only the petunias seem to have thrived in the overbearing heat.

Brought the fried Boston Fern down...removed the dead brown crispy fronds...used some really good fake extensions to fill it back out until they regenerate on their own...and voila...back with something resembling a fern.

Still worried about "Medusa" though.

Went from a  big beautiful spiky ball to something resembling fireworks gently falling, over only a few days.

Hoping she will recover.

Laughing at the Fairy Garden I planted with my sisters.

The micro-greens have gone crazy.

Obviously the gardener has quit.

The boys have been busy keeping cool...and swimming with the dogs and kids...and doing a bit of fishing...

The pools may be closed for the summer but the ponds, lakes and creeks are open!

Lennon finally with washer and dryer (and sink) after a pipe let go in the laundry room...with 9 days off (which he needed anyway...DeSantis is making him a little crazy) and plumbers coming and going.

"Not without a mask, you're not!"

But it is done now, and life is good again.

(...well except for that Governor thing...)

Finishing up the fermenting of the microbatch of watermelon wine and soon to pour it off to clarify.

John and I are planning Our July Adventure next week and will be doing a small tasting then.

It should be clarified by the end of the month...and on to the next fruit.

I am thinking PEACH for August!

Assuming we all make it to August.

This was yesterday's total Covid numbers

Yeah...I know, right?

In the midst of this Disney is opening the theme parks...

Come for the MAGIC.

Stay, because you're hospitalized on a VENT.

And this guy

(...and seriously....aren't you sick of seeing him in a self hug with the expression of a three year old who has been told he can't have a cookie before supper...???)

"...but I WANT the cookie..."

Anyway...

This guy, thinks it is a good idea to send our kids/grandkids back to brick and mortar classes.

WTAF???

And I'm not just thinking of classrooms full of 30 kids...I'm also thinking of packed school-buses...bus drivers...teachers and assists...principals and janitors.

Spectacularly bad idea.

My sister, Tina, sent a couple of black homemade masks yesterday...they are neat in a "look like a bank robber" kind of way...

Adjusting to our New Normal...which may be here for a long long time.

Stay Safe & Covid-Free, Everyone.
