(Virtual) Turkey: Waters of Emerald and Jadite

So, now between the Mediterranean Sea and the Arabian Sea a magical changes occurs...and the impossibly Colbalt Blue waters begin to change
from this

to this

and this Emerald Green

and this

Even Jadite Green in some places!

Once again, I am in awe.

Sadly, researched, the greenish coloration is primarily due to an increase in Noctilucia Bloom (a form of phytoplankton) signifying the food chain in the area is seriously disrupted. Much speculation exists as to why this is occurring. One thing that is agreed on is that "dead zones" are appearing in the farther Northern Areas with some areas actually appear glowing green from satellite images.

And the thick carpet of bloom choking off the oxygen supply for sea life.

A microscopic view of the culprit

So, while beautiful, the coloration change may be an indication of an environmental disaster in progress.
