August...And Brenden's First (Solo) "Grandma Rose" Day Out!

And what a beautiful START to the winding-down of Summer!  The humidity of the past couple of weeks vanished. Crisp blue skies. 75 degree temperatures. Sat out and watched the sunrise with the Tucker-Cat and a cup of coffee...basked the morning away...and later took advantage of the much cooler weather to trim back the Morning Glories and various herbs and vines on the patio. They had spread jungle-like tumbling from baskets and containers in the tropical heat and humidity.  So it is a tidy end-of-summer chaos now!

Finished my 1:1  before school starts time with my Middle Grandson on Friday. He is now five. Kindergarten is looming.  So, we had our first EVER solo day out, yesterday. Zipped around town on the transit. It was a "You Choose" Afternoon  Beginning with his choice of lunch out (McDonalds for McNuggets) and an epic battle between our Happy Meal toys...Batman and The Joker.

"Batman always wins, Grandma.  'Cause he's the GOOD guy."

he explained.

Then a choice between The Children's Room at the Library or The Wooden Castle Playground at The Park.  His Choice:

"The Park!"

Even convincing Grandma Rose to

"Come Swing!"

Then the choice was Walmart for a small toy or Playdoh (back here)

Surprisingly, Playdoh won that decision.  We rolled and stamped and mushed colors together to make tie-dye and camo. We broke out the cookie cutters and cut hearts and stars and gingerbread-man shapes

"Run..Run...as fast as you can. You can't catch me...I'm the GINGERBREAD man!"

And sculpted tie-dye snakes and a little green alligator...who later gobbled up said tie-dye snake....gulp!  We are letting a couple of the hearts and star cut-outs dry and are going to spray seal them and add magnets to hold "Fridge Art".

Just when we were both running out of steam for the day we built a sofa cushion Fort

"No...it's a...let 'tend it's a theater, Grandma..."

Settled in with Batman and The Joker, who seemed to have reconciled their differences, and watched (streamed) The Minion Movie. By the end he had snuggled under my leopard print throw and was nodding off.

It was a wonderful afternoon!  He was great...stayed right with me...held doors...said please and thank you and was just all the "magical age" that "is" being five years old :)

And huge thanks to James and Nicole for making our "day out" possible.

Nicki...as soon as the kids get back to school we will have a "Spoil Aiden (...and probably ourselves, too) Afternoon" together!

Love the new Fuchsia Hair!

(((hugs)))
