The First of the 2016 Republican Primary Debates

A "ROGUE ELEPHANT"in their midst, as they found out early on when the Moderators asked for a show of hands of anybody who wouldn't fall in line to support the rest of the "herd" if they didn't get the Nomination.

Yes. You probably already guessed it.

The Donald was the solitary hand-in-the-air and was instantly met by loud boos from the audience.

But wait I am getting ahead of myself.

The GOP Field for 2016. All 17 of them. Divided into an A and B List.  The B list went on at 5 PM.  The A List went on  (...forever...)  at 9 PM until 11:00.

Rick Perry very vocal (before the fact) that he had been relegated to the B-List.
The "B" list debate went smoothly...predictably...along party lines. Carly Fiorina probably shone the brightest. All of them were adamant about  1) Anti-Abortion. 2) The immediate need for troops to fight ISIS: WAR WAR WAR and swore if they were elected their first day on the job would be spent 1) Repealing Obamacare. 2) Repealing ALL executive orders issued by (former) President Obama, and Negating the Iran Deal.

Is there anyone else out there who is wondering how much all of this negating and undoing is going to cost us as taxpayers?

Anyway...they all behaved themselves pretty well overall.

But then...9:00 rolled around and the A-list arrived.

Trump and Jeb, Scott and Carson, Cruz and Huckabee, Rand and Rubio, Christie and Kasich.

And they all tumbled out of the GOP Clown Car and onto the stage.

And both the candidates and the moderators (...and truthfully...sadly...even the huge audience) treated the entire affair as though it was some kind of tacky game-show...instead of thinning down the sizeable "herd" to choose the next POTUS.

BTW...The entire stadium was officially declared a Gun Free Zone last night. No "Open Carry" here, folks. Again...am I the ONLY person to find this more than a little ironic?

And as I mentioned before The Donald immediately won friends and influenced people by making it certain that if he doesn't get the nomination he intends to run as an Independent.

OH SHIT!

                                            The White House Response

I think Bernie Sanders is sending an FTD Bouquet.

Some high points of The Donald's evening would have to include being asked about referring to women as (quote)

"You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals."

Not only did he admit it, he JOKED about it...and then defended himself by saying he doesn't

"...have time to be Politically Correct"

Seriously?

He was loud, he was overbearing, he was egotistical...and at the end of the freak-show he was also the one they deemed "won" the debate.

Go figure.

Instead of just asking the candidates questions about their stance on the issues the moderators set candidate on candidate like some Epic Rap Battle of History on Youtube.

Jed ~vs~ Rubo
Who will WIN? Who is Next?
Rand ~vs~ Christie

Taking disparaging comments that  one had made, in some cases years ago, and asking the other one (...Freud-like...)

"So...how did zat make you feel?"

Huckabee and Walker engaging in some perverse contest as to how anti-anti-anti abortion they were.

Walker  "I would defund Planned Parenthood...not even let a woman abort if it meant she would lose her own life...and publicly shame her."

(...okay...I made the part about publicly shaming her up...but the rest is all true...the public shaming comment came well before the debates from Jeb Bush)

Not to be bested, Huckabee assumed Don Corelone mode

I will use the 5th and 14th Amendment to stop abortion and change the law.

Fetuses have rights.  They supercede a pregnant woman's rights.

I will hunt these women down and burn them, their families, their homes, their friends families, their friends homes and their pets.

Okay, I definitely made that last line up.

But the others were true.

Boys..Boys...it truly is NOT a crazy contest.
Besides The Donald has already got that wrapped up. You two aren't even close.

Ben (...I"m a Neurosurgeon...) Carson who earning the title of BINO last night. It isn't like his party will EVER accept him as President...but he adds a bit of color to the stage.  Offended, you say? Yeah so was I, with the whole shuck and jive act for the GOP, okay?

A poster child for "I got mine...screw you."

Ditto for Rubio.

And then there was Kasich.  Who, admittedly I know very very little about at this point in time...we will get to him while we research the rest of the "herd". To be honest, he seemed like the most REAL (...or at  least normal) person on the stage last night. A quiet thoughtful demeanor. The only one of the ten with any semblance of Presidential bearing.  He was an interesting candidate I want to know more about.

He should have "won" the first debate in my opinion.

It is sad to see our political selection process devolve to a mediocre "game show" and

"Here we are now...entertain us"

Just sayin'

"...send in the clown...there ought to be clowns...
                                   don't bother they're HERE..."
