May...Our Cheese...The Coming Week...and Thoughts on Reopening

And if you're like everyone else I know...you are sitting there boggled...wondering just where the hell APRIL went.

This New Normal can be a bit disorienting.

But Spring-like weather has arrived and it is staying relatively warm...often rainy but beautiful on the sunny days.

North Patio Beach is finally OPEN!

And the beginnings of the borders, budding irises, and decluttering/seed planting has begun!

And now...we wait!

Going to get my sets and annuals soon, as well!

The purple flag irises should be opening in another week or so.

Got "my cheese" this week...so now we all have our stimulus direct deposits.

Chris and James both stimulating a local gun shop...James with a new rifle and Chris with a new Glock-19.

And they received their taxes back at nearly the same time.

Needless to stay there has been a whole lot of stimulation going on.

James' ginormous beanbag...that  has now been taken over by the Bullies.

"Sorry Dad, it's ours now!"

and something he has needed for some time...a new work truck!

And I have been doing a bit of stimulating the economy this week, too.

Besides the Grandsons birthdays...

And Chris and Tina's 1st Anniversary
 (...coming up on Monday...)

Tucked a good sum in saving...as well as $200 to play with (and Brenda and Diane did likewise...our next shopping/brunch day...whenever that may  come...is going to be amazing).

Sent Loretta a leather bound KJV large print Bible
(since it is so hard for her to read the tiny stuff anymore).

And next week the deliveries here will be a lot like Christmas in..well...MAY!

A couple of books I've always wanted in hardback.

A good Memory Foam topper for my bed.

Some stuff for Sofi-cat.
(including a larger harness so she can go back outside with me again)

"OUTSIDE!!!" ~Sofi

More morels from Missouri.

A Bay plant.
(...love fresh bay leaf for soups and meats...)

and a couple more "wants"...instead of (always) needs.

Feels good.

Maybe using Grub Hub a bit too heavily these quarantined days.

I only say this because my cat now knows what KFC means.

"You want some KFC?"

"Oh god...yes!!!"

Silly cat.

Just hunkered down here.
Finally adjusted to our New Normal.

Have developed a schedule of sorts.

Helps tremendously.

Brenda and I have both been fairly rigorously quarantining for what feels like forever...and are treating ourselves to brunch and coffee (here) this week.

A nice bit of near normal without the chance of Covid.

John and I soon to celebrate OUR DAY...our second year together!

Not so much these people...

and I have to agree with George Takei's take on all of it.

Red shirts.
All of them.

Yeah...you all go out and do whatever it is you do...

I'll watch.

To say jumping the gun on re-opening is a spectacularly bad idea is like saying the Titanic took on a little water, okay?

And so Trump can't come out AGAIN and say'

"Nobody could have SEEN this happening."

Here are the facts:

On March 1st we had exactly ONE death in the USA.

Today, we have 67,225 deaths in the USA.

Yesterday, we had 36,000 new cases here.

All total we have 1,131,030 positive cases.

Using only the numbers for the last 3 days...here are my projections
By May 31st...we will have or exceed 1,750,000 positive cases in the US.

By May 31st we will have or exceed 125,000 dead.

I hope I am wrong.

We will see.

Worldwide the numbers are chilling.
Inconceivable.

3,471,927 infected.

 244,105  dead

Numbers so big it is hard to get a grasp on the humanity of it all.

The loss.

The grieving and pain.

(((hugs)))

Stay Safe, Everyone!

It may be a real inconvenience to Shelter-in-Place...but it beats the hell out of becoming a statistic.
